Using Deadstocks to create something new isn’t just eco-friendly, it’s surprisingly inspiring!
How many scraps are produced during the entire processing of a garment? And where are the fabrics, the fabrics, the garments that are produced but that are not used?
Deadstocks are real leftovers of the fashion industry, goods that remain unsold season after season and whose disposal is increasingly impacting.
The Deadstock within the retail sector is pure surplus, is the direct consequence of overproduction generated by a too ambitious order (over - buying) or a change of color at the last moment of a whole collection (over-anticipation). All this fabric is forgotten inside the warehouses until it begins to occupy too much space and the time comes to bury it or burn it. Although we often tend to forget this and pretend that this does not represent harm, the reality is very different: these products in fact occupy a heavy role for the fatigue of the functioning of our planet.
But everything can be changed! We at Aethernal strive to reverse this process, to burn as little tissue as possible, to give new life to garments that would otherwise be forgotten. We at Aethernal reuse Deadstocks and choose to do so because this saves material for incineration or landfill, saves valuable energy and reduces the heavy carbon footprint.
Our production model starts from the research of fabrics derived from recovered raw materials, it focuses on the optimization of production in an ecological sense thanks to the strategic use of natural dyes, after which it will give life to the garment only if requested by our customers to avoid further waste and energy waste. We also choose to be Made in Italy and we collaborate with the excellence of our territory in order to know exactly the entire production and distribution chain. Reversing the creative process is the first thing to do when you decide to work with surpluses. Once again the pace slows down and inspiration comes from far away: we find a fabric and then let it guide us in the search for creativity for a unique design. Working with Deadstock fabrics helps us design with more creativity, knowing that our supplies are not endless we take the time to think about a collection that is perfect for that fabric and for the season in which we want to present it. This for Aethernal is to go back to the origins: to be inspired, to take time to create, to give our customers something unique ethical and unrepeatable.
